The Science:
The Celluma Pro Skin Rescue protocol combines blue (465 nm) and red (640nm) LED wavelengths to address both the cause and consequences of problem skin. Blue light targets acne-causing bacteria on the skin’s surface, helping to reduce breakouts without drying or disrupting the skin barrier. Red light works deeper within the skin to calm inflammation, support tissue repair and improve circulation; essential for compromised skin. Following LED therapy, the skin enters a heightened state of receptivity, so applying a targeted skin-rescue ampoule helps reinforce barrier repair, reduce immune over-reaction and support long-term skin balance, without irritating reactive or fragile skin types.
Why a course of treatment matters?
Skin concerns such as acne and chronic sensitivity are biological processes, not one-off events. While many clients notice calmer skin after a single session, a course of treatments is essential to...
- Consistently reduce acne bacteria levels
- Regulate inflammation and immune response
- Strengthen the skin barrier over time
- Improve skin tolerance and reduce flare-ups
For best results, a course of 8 treatments is recommended (ideally 2 p/week for 4 consecutive weeks or more frequently if time/budget allows), plus accompanying at-home skincare. This allows the skin to rebalance progressively, delivering clearer, calmer and more resilient skin long-term.

LED Light Modes Explained:
Celluma employs three clinically validated wavelengths, each with a specific purpose: blue light (~465 nm) sits closest to the skin surface and is ideal for targeting acne-causing bacteria within the epidermis; red light (~640 nm) penetrates more deeply into the dermal layer to stimulate collagen, reduce inflammation and promote tissue repair; and near-infrared light (~880 nm) reaches deepest into subcutaneous layers to support deeper circulation, tissue healing and metabolic activity. These differing penetration depths allow Celluma to be effective across a range of protocols, from skin rejuvenation and wrinkle reduction to inflammation support and improved tissue resilience.

How Celluma LED works?
Unlike thermal or ablative technologies, Celluma's Pro LED therapy works through photobiomodulation, a process where specific wavelengths of light are absorbed by cellular components like mitochondria. These photons are converted into chemical energy, increasing the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) - the primary energy molecule cells use to power repair, protein synthesis and metabolic activity. Elevated ATP supports increased collagen and elastin synthesis for anti-ageing, accelerates inflammation resolution and bacterial control for acne protocols, and enhances cellular metabolism and circulation that can aid tissue tone and contouring. In effect, LED light supplies a metabolic “boost” that helps the body’s own cells function more efficiently and regenerate more effectively.
-
Not all LED therapy is equal:
In LED light therapy, the Inverse Square Law explains that light intensity drops off dramatically as the distance from the source increases. This means a light held close to the skin delivers many times more energy to the tissue than the same light held even a short distance away. Celluma Pro devices are uniquely designed with a flexible, shape-taking form that contours closely to the face/body’s curves, maximising energy absorption and making treatments faster and more effective than flat or rigid LED panels that sit further from the skin. Rather than relying solely on more LEDs or higher power, Celluma’s design ensures greater usable light energy at the target tissue, improving clinical results.
